Dr Gordon E. Katske received his M.D. degree from the Chicago Medical School following his graduate training at Harvard University. He served with distinction in the United States Air Force. He received his thoracic and cardiovascular surgical training at the prestigious Cleveland Clinic Foundation Hospitals in Cleveland Ohio. He is board certified in thoracic and cardiovascular surgery as well as in general surgery. In addition Dr. Katske completed his oncology training at the Roswell Park Cancer Memorial Institute in New York and is certified in thoracic surgical oncology, head and neck surgical oncology and general surgical oncology.
Dr. Katske performs all forms of thoracic and cardiovascular surgery. He has performed over 10,000 major surgical procedures on the lungs, esophagus and chest wall. He has also performed over 5,000 open heart surgical operations including all phases of valvular heart surgery and coronary artery bypass surgery.
Dr. Katske is an acknowledged expert in the management of cancer of the lung, chest and esophagus. He is an expert in the management of non-malignant diseases of the chest including hyperhidrosis, spontaneous pneumothorax, reconstructive surgery of the chest and esophageal reflux disease.
Dr. Katske has been appointed a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Chest Physicians, the International College of Surgeons, the Royal Society of Medicine and the American College of Angiology. He is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. He is a founding member of the Bay Area Society of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery and a member of the Santa Clara County Medical Society.
Dr. Katske is on the staff of the Los Gatos Community Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital, O'Connor Hospital, EL Camino Hospital, and the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center Hospital were he teaches medical students and residents from Stanford University. His office is located at 555 Knowles Drive - Suite 109, in Los Gatos, California.
Dr. Katske has been in practice in San Jose since 1980. He is the father of three children and lives in Saratoga, California.
